We arrived around 9:30am and elected to fish pegs 7 and 8 with my dad’s friend fishing on peg 6. I sat on peg 8 and decided to not set my pole up to start as I wanted to practise my short distance casting with my new 9ft Maver Reactorlite (A lovely little rod with a great action). I set up a small Drennan maggot feeder and clipped up so I was casting around 1ft from the far bank. Attaching a 12 inch hooklength of to a size 16 B510 I filled the feeder with loose offerings and cast on the button. After a short wait and a couple of casts I had my first sign, a line bite that I excitedly stuck. A proper pull round followed the next cast and a nice little carp around graced the net. I was casting well and getting a few small indications on the tip but it just didn’t seem right on the day. Once further carp followed and I decided it was time to switch to my pole as dad was catching at a decent rate.

The Jersey City indie-pop outfit The Gwens, Formed in the early 1990's, originally comprised singers/guitarists Rick Timmons and Kevin Neblung, bassist Peter Erchick and drummer John Rosendahl. Initially dubbed the Wiffengwens, with the defection of Erchick (who joined the Olivia Tremor Control), the group shortened its name, added bassist Anthony Marchetelli, and began releasing various 7"s, domestic, and international compilations.
